You are invited to a Film Screening of Shireen of Al-Walaja, followed by director Daz Chandler Q&A!

“An intimate portrait of a young, dynamic woman who left her job with the UN to return to her Palestinian village as a popular resistance leader. What is it that motivates her to continue to fight and at what cost?”  Daz Chandler’s work has screened at international film festivals in Europe, the United States and Australia and shown in galleries in Sydney, Newcastle, New York, Ramallah & Istanbul. Daz’s main interest lies in material that challenges preconceived sociocultural and political notions and ideas, and creates instances of social engagement, or points of connection between unlikely parties. She also enjoys developing projects that indulge her dark sense of humour and flirt with the surreal and unexpected.  Daz is excited to share her experiences with shooting in Palestine with us at the University of Leeds as well as answer any of your questions.
