J M Collins biased letter on Israel last week astounds me. There is a type of Historian that is often labelled “revisionist” because of their habit of airbrushing out the important truths of history and bending facts. Mr Collins is one of those. Amongst other mistakes Collins omitted Israel’s undeclared, illegal war on Egypt in 1956, the appalling illegal invasion of Lebanon in 1981 and makes up a new fable that Israel was attacked in the 1967 six-day war. Even the famous Moshe Dayan, the Israeli commanding general and chief of staff, admitted that war was launched without warning on its Arab neighbours.

If you want peace Mr Collins Israel should surrender the occupied territories stolen in 1967 and withdraw the violent illegal settlers that cause so much suffering to the Palestinian people.

Palestine deserves its statehood.

Reading A I Stubbs’ ‘Dilemma over revolution’, YEP letters 8 July, you would be forgiven for thinking the Arab revolution is a bad thing and the real victim is poor little Israel! Let me remind A I Stubbs why Israel is so concerned with the revolutions.

Israel and its leaders with military background aren’t much different to the Arab dictators. It is a pariah state in breach of countless UN resolutions, an obstacle to peace in Palestine and Middle East (as confirmed in wikileaks) that treats the Palestinian with some of the the most humiliating acts. The real worry for Israel is, how can it maintain this while revolutions sweeps across the Arab world?

A few less dictatorships will make the world a better place, not just for the Arabs. Soon after Mubarak was toppled, the people of Egypt began to open the doors to the world’s biggest open air prison know as Gaza.

The Arab revolution is about their own freedom and not about eliminating Israel, so A I Stubbs’ ‘Biblical prophecies’ is an attempt to use the Bible to show Israel as the victim.

Israeli treaty with Egypt was based on US dollars that propped up Mubarak the dictator, against the will of its people. Israel is the spoilt child of US hypocrisies. We know where to point the finger of blame for the conflict in Palestine and the Middle East.

The letter agues that “encircled Israel currently faces many actual and potential troubles not of its own making.” I beg to differ. Israel has frequently attacked and launched undeclared illegal, pre-emptive wars on all its neighbours while amassing an illegal arsenal of nuclear weapons. The extremist Israeli government is busy illegally stealing and colonising Palestinian land in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israel then brands those that resist as terrorists who they then kill, murder and assassinate at will.

With an Israel that never tries to seek peace as a neighbour no wonder there is hostility in the region toward the Zionist state. Meanwhile the present government in Tel Aviv spends its time persecuting its own Jewish citizens who protest against the aggressive policies of the government by banning their basic rights to criticise. The Arab spring needs to come to Israel. It would be refreshing to see Tel Aviv promote peace and cooperation in the Middle East. It has never sincerely tried to do so yet.

A better project than the illegal rail line would be to help set up a port in Gaza and a customs zone to stop illegal imports.

These actions are not motivated by GREED or any disgusting ideologies, simply a love of our human brothers & sisters in ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED Palestine. They are born, they live EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES (if they are “lucky”) in poverty, malnourishment, misery, bereavement, loss, grief, pain, humiliation and despair and the day they die, nothing has EVER changed, not after 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, not even after more than SIXTY YEARS.
